When I first studied with the COGWMS, the woman I talked to asserted strongly that the Bride in Revelation was "God the Mother" and that in fact NOWHERE in the Bible did the God's Bride refer to the Church.
Now when members explain about the Bride, they will say that yes, in other places in the Bible, the Bride is the Church, but NOT in Relevation. In Revelation, the Bride must be "God the Mother" (Mother Jerusalem).
Now let's think about the logic they are using. The COGWMS says...
- "Clouds" are used metaphorically for people in a few verses. Therefore, when Jesus returns "on the clouds" it means He will be born as a person again.
- Jesus kept the Passover with bread and wine. Therefore, other verses that mention bread and/or wine are referring to Passover. (For example, Gen. 14:18 and Is. 25:6).
- The Heavenly Jerusalem in Rev. 21:2 and Gal. 4:26 is "Mother God." Therefore, many other verses that mention Jerusalem (especially in the Prophetic books) are talking about "Mother God."
- BUT even though the 'bride' of God throughout the Bible refers over and over again to God's people (His nation or His church), it does not in Revelation.

I just wanted to encourage you to keep on posting what the truth really is. I just discovered this page after being exposed to the cult myself (I am a born again christian myself and luckily i didnt get sucked in). I also noticed that it has been a while since your last post and thats why i wanted to send a message of encouragement. People really need to read what you are offering to them and most importantly their own Bible. So once again keep posting and God bless!
ReplyDeleteHi and thank you very much for writing. I've had some difficult circumstances over the last couple weeks, and I really appreciate your kind words. :)
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI also am a born again believer and I was recently exposed to this cult by an individual who approached me on my university campus and began explaining "God the Mother". I had never heard of this cult and I was completely thrown off by how they twisted scripture. My mind is still a bit in shock. I'm glad I've found this blog and I'm looking forward to more that you have to say. I actually met with the guy again today to discuss his beliefs and I got him to admit that they are polytheists yet he tries to justify God the Mother by appealing to the scripture in Genesis where a wife and husband become one flesh.
Thank you so much for sharing. Praise God you were able to see through their scripture twisting.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have been able to find what you need to help prepare you for any further encounters you may have with them. May the Lord bless you!
Thank you for this insight about this dangerous cult. A Wmscog member asked me if I believed rumors on google and if google is my savior. These direct quotes from ahnsanghang refute that and give valid info. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your reading my blog and taking the time to comment. Thank you, Anonymous. I have often heard the WMSCOG say not to read the "false rumors" about them on the internet. But as you see, there is nothing false about the quotes from Ahnsahnghong, and what he said directly contradicts the Bible and his own church's teachings. And you can look all this information up yourself--no "false rumors" here.
ReplyDeleteThese people just showed up at my door. They did not believe me when I explained to them that I knew Yeshua HaMashiach and that the actual true translation of the Hebrew (and the subsequent Greek translations) do NOT name Hashem as a female. I have put up with Moonies, but this is the first time these have showed up at my door. I am SO tired of the devil convincing people of so many lies to lead away from the Truth. It is REALLY tiresome!! Pleasew keep posting.
ReplyDeletei am so thankful for people like you that stand firm in the truth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, i write all the way from Africa, i was approached yesterday 10 October 2012 by three ladies from this cult and i just couldn't understand where this 'god the mother' thing was coming from. I just think that we should constantly guard ourselves from the lies and deceit of the devil.
ReplyDeleteThis web site is very deceptive and misleading. Spreading false information about WMSCOG. People wake up and do no t be deceived.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your visiting my website. My information is well documented, but if you claim that it is "deceptive, misleading, or false" please give some specific examples so that I can address them.
Deleteeverything on this site is based on facts, but the one who made this, we don't know?
DeleteI look after this site because I am struggling with my faith wether WMSCOG is a true or not. If the chuch is true, it should comfort me and will not give me very serious depression. For now, I've known a lot from this site but I will still give my trust to WMSCOG.
Yes everything here is fact, but theres no perfect church. I just hope that God the most high and full of truth will clear all my doubts.
To whom who experience the same thing as me, may we thank for it for God he wants us to become stronger. Eliminate every biases you have, as the authority of this blog says, confirm it on your own!
Thanks for your comment Joseph. I hope that you continue to carefully weigh all the evidence and give your highest loyalty to God rather than a church.
DeleteI have been free from this church for over 11 years and I challenge their prophesies. I have no guilt that holds me back from enjoying the good things on gods green earth. Once you free your self from the guilt they implemented in their twisted biblical beliefs then you'll will realize that the devils is not who freed me but god, by allowing me to love outside the church. I hope that if you feel confused about your belief with this church put your guilt aside then analyze your life and the whole spectrum of where its taking you. you'll see that all that is being taught to you is to keep you with mind control.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, Artie. I'm glad to hear you are free and doing well. Myself and others would love to know your story--what prompted you to leave. Maybe you will share it sometime.
DeleteHi Artie
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy to hear that you are out of this cult and at the same time I would like to know what made you be out of wmscog. It will be very importaant for me since my wife attend to this cult.
Some tips form your side will be very important since you were a member for such as long time.
I believe your opinion will be very good.
Thank in advance.
Hi Genny,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a good job with this blog.

How convenient! *sarcasm
Anyway, I just want to share what I've been thinking regarding Revelation 22:17.
WMSC's interpretation of Rev 22:17 is even more problematic doctrinally than just claiming the bride is God the Mother.
They always show "The Spirit and the bride says, "Come!"... take the free gift of water of life" only.
BUT, the full verse is as follow:
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
First of all, how would they explain the second sentence : And let the one who hears say, “Come!”
They are saying the same thing as the Spirit and the bride. So are they giving out the free gift of the water of life, too?
The 2 groups (first group is Spirit and the bride, second group is people who hears) say the same word, and they are mentioned in same verse. Both of them must have meant the same thing.
We cannot have 1 group meant one thing and the other group meant another thing.
Second, they claim that the bride is God the Mother because of the word that she says: "Come!"
Notice that there is conjunction "and" between Spirit and the bride. So the invitation and act of giving water of life is a joint action between the Spirit and the bride.
The thing is: Holy Spirit doesn't give eternal life. Jesus is the one who gives eternal life. (John 4:10, 4:13-14, 10:28, 14:6, Rev 22:1-2).
Holy Spirit calls us to come to God, teach us (John 14:16-17, 14:26, 16:7-14).
Third, Rev 22:17 should not be read on its own (just like the other verse WMSC use, Galatians 4:26, but that'll be another discussion).
Read from verse 12.
In Rev 22:12 Jesus says: “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done."
The word Come said by the Spirit and the bride can mean invitation to come to Jesus or to bid Jesus to come.
Whichever it is, the bride certainly did not invite people to come to her.
Fourth, as has been mentioned in this post and repeatedly in this blog, the bride is the church of Christ.
