Biblical Answers to the World Mission Society Church of God

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.--1 John 4:1

Are you or a loved one struggling with this group? Do you need Biblical answers about the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCoG or CoGWMS), their founder Ahnsahnghong (Ahn Sahng/Sang-Hong) or their current leader "Mother Jerusalem" (a.k.a. "Heavenly Mother God," Zang/Zahng Gil-Jah, or Chung Gil Cha)? Thank you for coming here. I hope my blog helps you. Questions and comments are always welcome.

The Bride IS the Church

You may have read my previous post, Who Is the Bride, where I looked at Bible verses using metaphors of a bride or wife of God.  If you remember, the WMSCOG leader I spoke to was adamant that the Church was NEVER referred to as the Bride.  But the Scriptures do indeed show that the "Bride" or "Wife" of the Lord is not a female God, but the collective people of God--the Israelites / the Church.

This week I happened to watch a WMSCOG produced video, and I was shocked to see that in its effort to show the Catholic Church as the great prostitute (from Revelation), they unwittingly admit that the Church IS the Bride after all!

You can see this video yourself on YouTube.  There are actually several of the same video available to view.  It's called "The Identity of 666."  The video is 7:32 minutes long, but the revealing part is found at about 0:37.

The subtitles say (and I'm quoting, even the verse reference is there):
"In the Bible, "woman" refers to "church." (Ephesians 5:23)
So, the prostitute means the "Antichrist church" that does not follow her husband, Christ."

Those are the WMSCOG's own words!  So if the "Antichrist church" does not follow her husband, Christ, then we can understand that the true church does follow her husband, who is Christ.

Here's Ephesians 5:23
For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

Caught in their own contradiction once again!

  1. I agree with most of your arguments on your blog. Even Jesus had never claimed himself to be God, neither had David. God is God, Christ is Christ, if past was a "copy and shadow", WMSCOG wouldn't call Ahnsahnghong Christ as well as Father Ahnsahnhong, do we call Jesus "Father Jesus"? Do we call David "The Lord David"? and New Jerusalem God the mother referred to Eve "mother of all the living (Genesis 3:20)", remember, Eve is a sinner, if mother was Holy, Eve is a mother, does it mean Holy equals sin??? By the way, in regards to your post "144,000", according to WMSCOG, the rest of their members are "multitude (Rev. 7:9)", whose flesh will die, but their souls will be saved, the "144,000" are those whose physical bodies will live forever and go to heaven.

  2. Thanks for the info about the 144,000 and the multitude. Isn't it still interesting that their big claim to new converts is that if they keep the Passover they will be protected from all the End-times plagues, when the vast majority of them would really be part of the great multitude?

Yes, David never claimed himself to be God. But I must disagree with you about Jesus. I speak from a mainstream Christian perspective, and I realize that not everyone reading here will be the same. But I do see Jesus claim to be God, and the people at the time noticed it too. John 10:33 is one example.

As for "Father Ahnsahnghong" also being called "Christ Ahnsahnghong" and the "Holy Spirit".... It turns out they have somewhat of a different understanding of the Trinity than most Christians--it enables them to interchange names and titles like that.

    Thank you for your input!

  3. Sorry I did not explain it very well. Yes, Christ and God spiritually are one, but physically are not, at least not always, at least are different form, that's why we call "Jesus" to indicate his flesh. I meant if it was a "copy and shadow", Ahnsahnghong would be the one who claim to be God, according to his book, he never did. In John 14, Jesus's disciple was asking him to show the "Father", and Jesus was the one who explained, even though Jesus disciples knew that he and God were one, they never call Jesus "Father Jesus" or "God Jesus"; however, in WMSCOD, none of the disciples recorded what Ahnsahnghong said before his death, or what he said about himself was "God the Father", "second coming Jesus" instead, the WMSCOD explained by themselves that Ahnsahnghong was the Father just based on what Ahnsahnghong found different from the mainstream Christianity, and he got baptised 1948, and fuifill David's throne, and that's all you need to know. What about the "bright Morning Star (Rev. 22:16)" then? Does Ahnsahnghong fulfil anything about he "bright Morning Star"?

    Thanks for your reply!

  4. If we read Luke 6:37 and Galatians Chapter 3 and 5 carefully, we come to know that we should not judge others, therefore WMSCOG should not judge Roman Catholic Church to be 666; and we should not be bound to the Laws anymore as Jesus sacrificed for our freedom, we should live by faith and Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gengleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23). It's not keeping the Passover, keeping the Sabbath, keeping the Feasts, imagine, if you live in a small poor village in the earth, where there is no WMSCOG, or you live in East Lansing, where there are three hours driving to the WMSCOG Chicago branch, how do you keep them, do you walk to the City where there is a WMSCOG or drive three hours to Chicago every week? As the Great multitude will die physically anyway, how can you keep the passover when you're sick to die and paralyzed for many years???

  5. Ah, I think I understand what you are saying. Yes, I found no evidence that Ahnsahnghong himself claimed to be God. In the book of his that I read, he was looking for the second coming of Christ, not claiming to be Christ (or God). But Jesus did make that claim and was able to prove it with His bodily resurrection. Ahnsahnghong is still dead and buried.

And good point about the fruit of the Spirit.
