Biblical Answers to the World Mission Society Church of God

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.--1 John 4:1

Are you or a loved one struggling with this group? Do you need Biblical answers about the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCoG or CoGWMS), their founder Ahnsahnghong (Ahn Sahng/Sang-Hong) or their current leader "Mother Jerusalem" (a.k.a. "Heavenly Mother God," Zang/Zahng Gil-Jah, or Chung Gil Cha)? Thank you for coming here. I hope my blog helps you. Questions and comments are always welcome.

Mother God -- Responding to WMSCOG comments

I've received several comments lately from members of the World Mission Society Church of God.  This one mainly has to do with the existence of "Mother God."  I'll respond to it in parts...

(I have not removed any words from the original comment, but I have fixed spelling errors to help anyone needing to use the online translator.)

December 14, 2011, 5:17 AM, Follower of Christ said...
God bless brothers and sisters =D! I attend The Church of God. At first I was a hard devoted Catholic... Just went to Sunday worship for one hour a week....
Thank you, Follower of Christ, for taking the time to write to me.  I must say, I'm surprised that you describe yourself as being a "hard, devoted Catholic" but only went to church for "one hour a week."  Seems like you were missing something in your walk of faith, and I'm sorry for you about that.

Then...Well after a Family member Told me about MOTHER GOD I couldn't help but just hear him out, So later after hearing his "nonsense" at the time I would gladly introduce him to my Catholic Church... Well the opposite happened.. When I went I asked about Mother God and I brought my own bible so I would know if they changed something. Anyway Long story short all of the teachings from the church are in the bible. I told myself many times and prayed to GOD that if this was a false church I would leave, with just finding one thing changed in the bible... That was 7 months ago.. To this day I still have the same mentality. If I find one thing different I will leave, Because from what I know, The BIBLE is the word of GOD nothing else.
You are right that the Bible is the word of God.  However, the WMSCOG does change things in the Bible, though not necessarily the words on the page.  They change the meanings (especially by removing them from their contexts), they miss the finer meanings that you can see by looking at the original language, and they add things not written in the Bible--assumptions that contradict the full message of the Bible.

Many say there is no where that mother GOD is mentioned.. Well allow me to Leave you all with some verses of the bible.. Not my words just GODS lol New King James Version
I'm glad you wrote this.  It shows the chain of verses the WMSCOG uses.  Unfortunately, these verses are taken out of context and don't mean what the WMSCOG tells you they mean.  It's dangerous to try to match up verses like this without considering the context and the full message of the Bible.  (I'll talk more on that later.)

Who is Jerusalem?
Galatians 4:26 = but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Well that tells me she is in heaven and is my, your, our mother... But I still want to know who she is to GOD.
Galatians 4:26 is not talking about a particular woman in heaven.  Click here for a study on what Galatians 4:26 is talking about and how the WMSCOG misinterprets this verse.

Who is she to GOD?
Revelation 21:2 and 21:10 = Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from GOD, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. / And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the Holy Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from GOD. )
So I understand so far that Jerusalem is our mother and she is a bride....
You've already started out with an incorrect assumption from Gal. 4:26, and now you are trying to pair it with Revelation 21:2,10.  Ahnsahnghong himself wrote that the New Jerusalem was a place, not a person.  The New Jerusalem here represents the Church, just as it does in Gal. 4:26.  I know the WMSCOG objects to the Bride in Revelation being the Church, but I will address that in more detail in the future.

But who is she the bride to?
Revelation 21: 9 = Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife."
Oh wow so before you learn that she is our mother and she is a bride, a bride to the lamb.
Now this one is in the correct context.  Rev. 21:9 does belong with Rev. 21:2,10.  Yes, the Bride is the wife of the Lamb.  The Church is also described as the Bride of Christ in other verses.

Who is this lamb?
John 1:29 = The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of GOD who takes away the sin of the world!"
Oh wow well we all know Jesus took away the sins of the world and only he did that so he must be that lamb he speaks of right?
Yes, correct.  The Lamb referred to in Revelation is Jesus.

Well is there more to Jerusalem? Answer Sure is... =D
Isaiah 62:7 = And give HIM no rest till He establishes and He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
So we know now that Jerusalem is our mother, Gods Bride, and the earth will praise her... but wait I thought you only give praise and honor and glory to only GOD?
1 Timothy 1:17 = Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to GOD who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Wow so if God said he will make Jerusalem the praise of the earth and we can only give praise to GOD, then she must be GOD......
Here you've matched two verses incorrectly again and made assumptions that don't fit.  The Bible does say that God will not allow His glory or praise to be given to another (Isaiah 42:8).  But does that mean that nothing and no one else can get any kind of praise?  Check these verses (using NKJV):
Genesis 49:8; 2 Samuel 14:25; 1 Kings 10:1-9; Proverbs 27:2; Proverbs 31:28-31; Ecclesiastes 4:2; Song of Solomon 6:9

You also need to see the context of Is. 62:7.  Keep reading.  Here's Isaiah 62:9,
"But those who have gathered it shall eat it [Jerusalem's grain],
And praise the Lord;
Those who have brought it together shall drink it in My holy courts."
It's not that Jerusalem is receiving God's praise and therefore must be God.
It's that Jerusalem is causing people to praise God.

By the way, did you notice the verse you referenced, 1 Timothy 1:17 says that there is only one God (singular) who alone is wise?  The only way this reconciles with the WMSCOG's insistence of two gods is if the second "Mother God" is not wise, because only one is wise.

My brothers and sisters all the verses were from the bible. The bible isn't about stories... Its a book of prophecy. As you can see it speaks of Jerusalem, How she is God and how she is our mother and She is God's wife... We are all God's children. Please open up your eyes.. none of this is a CULT.. all teachings are from Christ Ahnsahnghong.
I know it doesn't feel nice to have your beloved church called a 'cult.'  But if you want other Christians to consider the idea that they have been following the deceptions of Satan, then you must also be willing to consider the possibility for yourself.

If Ahnsahnghong was God, he (and the WMSCOG) wouldn't have so many flaws in his teachings, Bible references, and historical facts.  He wouldn't have ANY flaws, but he does.  Therefore Ahnsahnghong was NOT God.

I know it first sounds really insane and you have every right in the world to doubt.. I sure did at first... But Hey if it's in the bible I'm not arguing with it.. As of Ahnsahnghong , there is so much evidence and proof of him being the HOLY SPIRIT. =D Go to THE WORLD MISSION SOCIETY CHURCH OF GOD to learn more... all in the bible.. God bless brothers and sisters. =) http://english.watv.org/
There is so much evidence and proof of Ahnsahnghong NOT being the Holy Spirit.  Please look deeper into the Bible besides just the verses and explanations the WMSCOG gives you.

Thanks again for writing.  I do see that you sincerely want to follow God, and I hope that you seriously consider the material presented here.  I'm also sorry I was unable to answer your comment sooner.  I hope you'll be back to respond.

More WMSCOG comments and responses to come...

could you provide me some verse proving that He is not the Holy Spirit?
Who is the Holy Spirit then?
What is the Holy Spirit's name?

I would gladly appreciate your answers but I won't be expecting any reply if it is something too much to bear. Thanks and God bless! :)

    1. Thank you for taking the time to comment here. There is plenty of evidence on my blog and others showing that Ahn Sahng Hong is not God. You would find it if you read through the rest of my blog, if that's not too much for you to bear. :)

I'm glad to answer your questions.

      1. "Could you provide me some verse proving that He is not the Holy Spirit?"

You have it backward. Think about the justice system. The burden of proof is on the plaintiff. For any person claiming to be God in the flesh, they have the burden of proof. They are a normal person, unless it is proved they are God, not the other way around (they are God, unless proven not to be).

But here is a verse, Romans 6:9. Christ cannot die again. Ahn Sahng Hong is dead.

      2. "Who is the Holy Spirit then?"

God the Holy Spirit was active already in the early church as seen in the book of Acts. The Holy Spirit comforts us, counsels us, encourages and teaches us.

      1 Corinthians 6:9

      3. "What is the Holy Spirit's name?"

If the Holy Spirit had a personal name (like Bob) that was important for believers to know, don't you think it would have been revealed to the early church in the book of Acts, when the Holy Spirit was so active with the believers?
The Bible does reveal many other names and titles for the Holy Spirit:
      http://www.gotquestions.org/names-Holy-Spirit.html
Why do you need to look for a specific, personal name (like Bob) for the Holy Spirit? I thought you were not supposed to add to the Bible?

You are welcome to email me if you'd like a lengthier discussion on these topics. :)

    2. God is infinite, man is finite. There is no limitation for God to do. If you put limitations on God, you are exalting yourself higher than God. God is the author of life. God can be anything he wants to be. God does not need the flesh. But he can use the flesh for his purpose.Do you believe that God can only use one type of flesh? If you believe this way, you are exalting yourself higher than God.

    3. What flaws are you talking about? To keep Christmas as the birthday of Christ? To make images for God? To represent God with a cross? To follow your man made traditions? All of these, you yourselves do..How can you be credible about yourself as a christian and claiming to believe in all the words in the bible?

      Delete
    4. What limitations do you think I have placed on God, and what is your evidence that I have done so?

I have listed many of the flaws in my three summary pages. You can find links to them at the top of the screen.

    5. Before people believe you, you yourself must be credible. You said you celebrate the birth of Jesus(Christmas). Nowhere in the bible that says Jesus birthday is Dec 25. But research shows Dec 25 is a significant day for the celebration of the birthday of the Sun God. Does not the bible say, do not add or subtract from what is written in the bible? Anyone who adds words to the bible, plagues will be added to him, and if anyone takes away words from the bible, he will lose his share in the tree of life(eternal life). God declares absolute obedience to His words. For his thoughts are not your thoughts neither his ways, your ways. Your blog is not good because you claim to believe in God, but through your actions , you deny him.

    6. I think you are a false christian because you celebrate Christmas. Then why should I even pay attention to your stories and lies? Remove the dirt in your eyes and I will believe you.

    7. (For those who are wondering, Anonymous is referring to one of my comments further down on this page.)

Hi again. I assume you are the same person who wrote to ask if I celebrate Christmas and Easter. I think I did not make myself clear. I said nothing about December 25 because that date itself has minimal significance to me. I know full well (as should all Christians) that we do not know the exact date of Jesus' birth.

I happily remember the birth of Jesus all year long. Yes, I sing Christmas hymns with my children even in the summer. I especially celebrate Jesus' birth in December because that's when the world puts a focus on it, and it's especially nice to celebrate in unison.

As for the day, though, if you are talking about specific gatherings such as with my family or church, I can honestly say that I celebrate at least 5 or 6 different days. You see, it is the reason for the celebration, not the date of Dec. 25, that is important to me.

You said, "God declares absolute obedience to His words." Are *you* able to maintain absolute obedience to His words, in everything? Can you say that you *never* sin? Is that what you were told you need to do to enter heaven?

Yes, the Bible does say not to add or subtract from it, but you seem to be unwilling to see that the WMSCOG has added an entirely new, second God to the Bible.

About my "stories and lies," I can understand if you don't wish to believe my stories of personal experiences. I am not lying about them, but since you weren't there, it's understandable you may doubt me. However, all my research is based on facts. If you believe I am lying about that too, you may look up the information for yourself and see that I am not.

I don't expect you to believe me on my word only, and you should not simply accept what the wmscog spoon feeds you either -- do your own thorough research and you will see what is true.

  2. GOD IS WITH YOU!!!
Also my love is with you as well :)
You are an awesome person and what you say daily on your blogs, have taking the words straight out of my mouth.
Also I would love to point out a verse from the bible that I hope will get the people
To reconsider joining this decieving movement.

    2 Kings 17:29-33 NIV

29 Nevertheless, each national group made its own gods in the several towns where they settled, and set them up in the shrines the people of Samaria had made at the high places. 30 The people from Babylon made Sukkoth Benoth, those from Kuthah made Nergal, and those from Hamath made Ashima; 31 the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire as sacrifices to Adrammelek and Anammelek, the gods of Sepharvaim. 32 They worshiped the Lord , but they also appointed all sorts of their own people to officiate for them as priests in the shrines at the high places. 33 They worshiped the Lord , but they also served their own gods in accordance with the customs of the nations from which they had been brought.

Do you observe or celebrate Christmas, Easter, revere the Cross or images???I am curious about how you conduct your faith as a christian.

    1. I celebrate the birth of Jesus. I do not celebrate Santa Claus.
I celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus. I do not celebrate the Easter bunny.
I find the cross a meaningful symbol of what Jesus has done for me. I do not wear a cross necklace, but that's because I hardly wear any jewelry at all.
I'm not sure what you mean by revering "images." If I hear on the news about an image of Jesus appearing on a piece of toast, I don't really pay much attention to it. Is that what you mean?

If you looked around my house, you would not notice pictures of Jesus or crosses on my walls. You would be able to tell my family is Christian by this evidence:
-Bibles that are definitely not dusty
-stacks and shelves full of Christian books
      -Christian music on my radio
      -natural conversations about God
-the absence of crude language, cigarettes, liquor, porn, etc.
      -modest dressing
-regular church attendance and in-depth study of the Bible
      -charitable giving and activities

Those are a few examples of how I live out my faith as a Christian. Not all Christians live the same way, and that's ok. Romans 14 gives us freedom to express our faith according to our convictions, even if our convictions are different from those of other Christians.

I hope that answers your question. :)

  4. hi genny,

i am grateful that i came upon your blog. being a born again christian myself, i was approached by two members who were doing a survey and trying to explain to me on the importance to know and believe in god the mother. i admit im not well versed with the bible enough to reply their claims, but i do knw it well enough to believe that indeed it's the words of God, and he mentioned tat there's no other gods but him and only, and our God is also the Trinity, god the father, the son and the holy spirit - and they come in ONE - our God. That i knw and there's never a mention that god has a wife. I did question those surveyors what bible they are using, and they said NIV. At the end of our conversation, I told them, "You may be using the REAL bible, but your interpretations are definitely not right."
God bless you Genny :) Your blog helps many to understand it further

  5. Hi genny,

i was ambushed my friend and his mother once i stepped into his house about My faith and what i believe in. they would take me through scripture and constantly say " Its God word" and i would say " yes it's his word, but your interpretation". They Definitely are doing 'Deconstructionism' at It's best. they seem to not have an answer once i question them and they always go in circles. i was there for 4 to 5hrs and Hoped to plant a seed of doubt, its just sad how they truly believe there is a 'God the Mother' (Talk about a different Gospel). So to finish off the discussion i just said Thee Gospel and how were saved by faith and faith alone in Christ and Christ alone but they seemed to be Self-righteous to the point where they Wanna earn it and when i asked them if there were to die today if they will be saved they said " I dont know". It was Sad but i pray for them.

Wow so if God said he will make Jerusalem the praise of the earth and we can only give praise to GOD, then she must be GOD......

    - whoever wrote this really misunderstood the verse. The term "praise" used in Isaiah 62:7 is actually t'ehilla'h which means a song praise sang by women (see link http://biblesuite.com/hebrew/8416.htm). It also clearly states that "He establishes and He makes Jerusalem A PRAISE in the earth" which simply means that Jerusalem will be the song of praise or A FORM of praise itself. Also, the person said "Wow so if God said he will make Jerusalem the praise of the earth and we can only give praise to GOD, then she must be GOD." is a faulty and illogical statement at it makes the medium of praise as the one being praised. Observe how he changed the original verse "Jerusalem A praise of the earth" to "Jerusalem THE praise of the earth" as well. It is like saying "I praise God using my guitar, so my guitar must be God." I pray that Jesus would open their eyes.

  8. -.- _(I am glad that there are others who have experienced and understand what's going on. I recently moved into an area of Las Vegas that had a number of these people that are regulars to this street corner. At first I thought nothing of it, as it would start as a conversation of: "Do you believe in God?" Easy answer for me is: Yes, of course. Conversation became weird immediately afterwards, and I could tell that something about this wasn't quite right. I had never heard anything quite like this before. I've delt with Mormons, and Jehovah's witnesses... and similar groups. Most of these people are happy to just hear, "I believe in God" and leave it at that. However, they started mentioning God the Mother. Knowing that something wasn't right with that, I just listened to the conversation waiting for the trigger-points to counter the statements. There are some things I acknowledge as things that we ought to consider as Christians are no different than Jews, but with Jesus Christ added to the equation. I could get more elaborate, but the biggest detail that I knew right away I was dealing with a bad religion was their very clear separation with Jesus as the Christ. Apparently Jesus isn't enough, we have to do all kinds of things and apparently had to decode a secret message in the Bible that only they seemed to know about despite the countless scholars that have researched the Bible for years.

Another thing that tipped me off, these people have NO personality. Bob's expressionless wind-up-toy personality is exactly the same as Bill's, and Sue's, and so on.... it's almost like they all are running the same program trained to respond to certain questions the exact same way.

As a Christian, I'm actually pretty loose on denominations. So long as you: Believe in God, Believe that Christ Jesus is the Only Way to eternal life, and that faith in Him will bring us to Eternal Life.... I don't care how you interpret the rest of the story. Reason is, no matter what the rest is, we will be able to ask GOD to clarify anything else we DON'T understand once we GET THERE! (Plus, there's that part about don't judge, lest ye be judged.)

    1. Hi Lorena. Yes, there are many false prophets as the Bible warned. Any one of the current false prophets can make the same claim about 2000 years ago people denied Jesus and people are denying him now (meaning themselves). That line has no bearing on whether they preach the truth or not. For your question about why God used the word "us" please read the posts about the Hebrew word "elohim." You can try this one first: http://encountering-ahnsahnghong.blogspot.com/2010/09/elohim-part-3.html. Then go back and read parts 1 and 2.
