Biblical Answers to the World Mission Society Church of God

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.--1 John 4:1

Are you or a loved one struggling with this group? Do you need Biblical answers about the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCoG or CoGWMS), their founder Ahnsahnghong (Ahn Sahng/Sang-Hong) or their current leader "Mother Jerusalem" (a.k.a. "Heavenly Mother God," Zang/Zahng Gil-Jah, or Chung Gil Cha)? Thank you for coming here. I hope my blog helps you. Questions and comments are always welcome.

Evidence for your faith -- A question for WMSCOG members

I don't believe in a completely blind faith.  I know that some people are perfectly happy believing in their religious faith without knowing anything substantial as evidence, and ignoring anything that has a risk of disproving their faith.  That is not in my personality, though.

I have talked with atheists, agnostics, and others who question my faith in Christianity.  Some have said, "How can you believe in Jesus and the Bible when there are inconsistencies, contradictions, and other problems?"

I understand this question.  And so I can also understand the reluctance of World Mission Society Church of God members (and people of other religions) to abandon their faith when they are confronted with problems.

Several things happen when I am confronted with those problems, and I am sure there is a similarity between me and my sister (and other WMSCOG members).  I see that:
  1. Some of those 'contradictions' others see really do have logical explanations for them if you just look a little farther.
  2. People do sometimes fail to act in a 'Christian' manner, but that is because we are flawed human beings.  We need to look at the teaching of the faith more than the actions of the adherents.
  3. Some of those other philosophical problems really do have answers if you will just consider another viewpoint.
  4. For the cases that are left over, if there are no explanations or answers, I understand the objection, but it does not bother me enough to abandon my faith.  Why?  Because I trust God enough that He has an answer even if I can't see it.
I'd like to focus on point 4.  In order to trust your faith in God enough to overcome any apparent objections, there MUST be something at the root of it as evidence, proof to build your faith on.-- something solid, like the house built on the rock (Matthew 7:25).

When I am confronted with the toughest questions about what I believe, I have to go back to that root, that rock, and remember the immovable facts my faith is built on.

The evidence can't be something that's a matter of opinion or interpretation--those are not stable or provable.

It can't be something that is entirely within the belief system, because then you get into circular arguments which don't prove anything.  Basically that would be, "Why do you believe in the Bible?  Because it is God's word.  How do you know it is God's word?  Because it tells me so."

No, it needs to be something from the outside that is factually based.

Here are two of the key pieces of evidence of my faith in Jesus and Christianity:
  • Support for the Resurrection is profound.  It is the only logical explanation (as strange as it may be) of the events occurring after the Resurrection and the changed lives of the disciples.
  • There is an abundance of fulfilled prophecy in the Bible recorded in historical documents.
Now the question for WMSCOG members... What do you consider evidence for your faith in Ahn Sahng Hong and Zahng Gil Jah and the doctrine of the WMSCOG?  When the WMSCOG tells you that you can't have a faith based on common sense, what evidence do you rely on to know you can trust them?

Remember, this evidence needs to be something outside the WMSCOG that is factual, verifiable.

For example, do not say your evidence is the prophecies that Ahn Sahng Hong fulfilled as the second coming Christ, because that is based on the WMSCOG's own interpretation of those prophecies.

Ok, responses please. :)

  1. You will never get a real answer because there is no truth in this man and woman claiming to be God. When Jesus returns for the second time it will be so every eye will see and then every tongue will confess Jesus is Lord. It will be done that way so no questions can arise, no lies can be told and no one can say they didn't know. For instance; if this man is Christ returned how unfair for those who did not know and have the chance to meet him. Don't I have just as much right to meet God as anyone else?
When Jesus returns we won't have to guess and He will not be born or given to one nation or church group but to ALL WHO ARE WILLING TO RECEIVE HIM. HE WILL RETURN KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS WITH HIS REWARD IN HAND!!!
Be Blessed My Friend In Jesus Christ

  2. Okay, Genny. I'm not sure if you'll like my answer. But I think we have to look at the big picture here. And I do want to say fulfillment of prophecy. But you want something else. I'll give you my testimony in a nutshell: God led me there. I won't give you the details because it's too long. But the way there was opened. I've been going to Sunday service ever since I was very young. And I found something at WMSCOG that I didn't find on Sunday. And after studying the prophecies in WMSCOG I really came to understand why things are the way they are. And I wondered why all the many churches and faiths didn't have what I have. And I hear God telling me not to judge them because I keep on wondering about them. What I'm trying to get at is this. We are all on the stage of God. Those who are wicked, let them continue to be wicked. Those who are righteous, will continue to be righteous. Those who are meant to be Muslim will be Muslim. Those who are meant to be jehovah's witnesses will be. Those who will attend Sunday service will. And those who are meant to join WMSCOG will join. God is the creator and author.

I'm a member of WMSCOG because God led me there.

I continue to go there because: I believe it to be right. I receive a serious education in the Bible and the prophecies. I just like it there.

I keep this faith and trust them because: First day there felt like home. It still feels like home. Keeping Sabbath is like water for my soul. It's the spiritual side of this church that is well with my soul. Its me who received this, and I know this to be right. The evidence is the Spirit. It's the spirit that I found that wasn't there on Sunday.

    1. Thank you for answering. I appreciate hearing from you, and I understand what you are saying in regards to your church because there are many similarities in how I feel about my church.

Here's the problem, though. Everything you mention is about feelings and interpretations. There is nothing objective that can be proven.

It feels like home. It's the spirit that I found there. God led me there. I found something that I didn't find in anywhere else. It helps me understand the Bible. I believe it's right.

I can say exactly the same things about my evangelical church. And I've known people who would say the exact same things about their Catholic, Jewish, Mormon, and Jehovah's Witness churches. Buddhists and Scientologists and many other faiths would also say the same.

Can all these faiths be true at the same time? Of course not.

What you mention should not be *absent* from a true church, but its presence is not proof of the truth either. There must be something else, objective and provable, that can point to the truth.

Does that make sense to you? I hope to hear back from you again.

  3. Here's a couple questions... What does fig tree in Matthew 24 mean? What does Revelation 5:1-5 mean? Since you have the truth and I don't, you should be able to explain correctly. If you can, I will leave COG.

  4. Evidence of my faith is the past (Jesus first appearance) He said “Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.” (‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭48‬ NIV) if your not looking for bible prophecy fulfillment you must be looking for signs right? However the bible states...For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. (‭Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭22‬ NIV) Secondly did the disciples follow Jeses with common sense? Even for them it was hard to believe in Jesus. "but they were kept from recognizing him. He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?” They stood still, their faces downcast...
The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. (‭Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭16-17, 20-21‬ NIV) because of his crucifixion they lost faith in Him.
