Biblical Answers to the World Mission Society Church of God

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.--1 John 4:1

Are you or a loved one struggling with this group? Do you need Biblical answers about the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCoG or CoGWMS), their founder Ahnsahnghong (Ahn Sahng/Sang-Hong) or their current leader "Mother Jerusalem" (a.k.a. "Heavenly Mother God," Zang/Zahng Gil-Jah, or Chung Gil Cha)? Thank you for coming here. I hope my blog helps you. Questions and comments are always welcome.

World Mission Society Church of God Behavior -- Love and Hate

When you first meet people from the World Mission Society Church of God, you might remark at how friendly, sincere, happy, and loving they are.  Indeed, many that I have met are genuinely nice and caring and have a deep and sincere desire to know God.  Why do these same nice people show such extreme animosity toward those who disagree with them?

This has been my experience.  Has it been yours also?  When I ask questions (either too many or too serious), no matter how friendly or sincerely caring my intent, I am met with hostility and insults.  Why, when Jesus said we should love even our enemies (Matt. 5:43-47)?

At first I thought it was simply a failure on their part, individually.  I try, but I am not always perfect at responding to confrontation either.  Or maybe they are like those who purposely disregard what the Bible teaches about love, even though claiming to be Christians.  But it happens so often, and they claim to obey everything the Bible teaches.  What's going wrong here?  The problem is in the teachings of the WMSCOG.

The WMSCOG teaches that complete obedience is required for salvation, and by that they mean complete obedience to the WMSCOG's teachings and Biblical interpretation.

So what does the WMSCOG teach about those who disagree with them?
"God awakens us to the existence of Jerusalem our Heavenly Mother, but the devil our enemy who slanders the truth is covering the glory of God by telling a lie that God the Mother does not exist."  (from Do Not Call Anything Impure That God Has Made Clean)
They teach that those who don't believe in "Mother God" are spreading lies and slander from the devil--listening to them is listening to the devil.  It's very sad that they won't even consider that what they think is a lie is actually verifiable truth.
"The devil is our enemy because he has become the enemy of Elohim-especially God our Mother.  The serpent [the devil] is a perpetual enemy of the woman. The woman, our Mother, leads us into life, but the serpent [the devil] tries to lead us into death. From the beginning there was enmity between them, and to the very end of the age the enmity will continue. He constantly hinders the truth about Mother through various tricks. To prevent us from knowing Mother who gives us life, he denies the Biblical records of Elohim working together by every tricky word and scheme. Thus, he tries his utmost to swallow our souls and lead us into death.  The more the devil hinders us, the more we should be alert and self-controlled, so that we may resist the devil with the correct knowledge of God....  The dragon, the ancient serpent called the devil, is mobilizing numerous people like the sand on the seashore, so-called Christians, to oppose Mother and us who follow Her (Rev 12:17)."  (from The Elohim Gods)
They teach that anyone who is against "Mother" (Zahng Gil-Jah) is a servant of the enemy Satan, and that any argument that sounds convincing is one of the devil's tricks to lead them to death.  Doesn't that sound like the kind of logic a deceiver would use to avoid being exposed?
"The Bible says that the spirit that does not acknowledge God can come in the flesh is the spirit of the antichrist, and warns that we must not accept it....  Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is from Satan....  If anyone denies God's incarnation, he is not a Christian but the one controlled by the spirit of the antichrist."  (from Christianity is a Religion That Believes in Incarnation of God)
They teach that it's the antichrist who doesn't believe in Ahnsahnghong is God in the flesh.  In fact, they teach that anyone who speaks against the WMSCOG in any way is a servant of Satan...
"Then, why do Satan's servants masquerade as servants of righteousness? They do that for the only one purpose of leading people, even God's chosen ones, to hell by deceiving them. ...we should diligently preach the gospel of truth to the people, enlightening them to know the real identity of Satan and his servants who hinder the gospel of God and devour men's souls.  They deceive people into believing that what God's people keep or celebrate is not truth....  What does the Bible say about Satan's servants who blaspheme against God and His people? It says that God scoffs at them and He will break them with an iron rod and dash them to pieces like pottery."  (from Hindrance of Satan and Victory of God)
Back to the main question--why do we see such animosity from our loved ones when we are only trying to help them?  Because they are taught that Satan is using us to try to take them away from the "truth."  Their anger towards us is their anger towards Satan.

The important lesson for us here is to understand why this is happening.  That understanding may help us to avoid responding with equal animosity.

As for the logic of this teaching, I can only tell our WMSCOG friends this...
Be careful!  Satan is a skillful deceiver.  Don't fall for his schemes.  Don't just call these claims about the WMSCOG lies and ignore them.  Don't just listen to your leaders' explanations.  Check it out for yourself.  Think for yourself.

By the way, for those of us who wonder why our loved ones can't seem to see a problem that looks perfectly clear to us, maybe it's because they are also being told...
"We, too, should completely follow what God has taught and instructed us to do, as the children of God, instead of having a faith based on common sense." (from Do Not Call Anything Impure That God Has Made Clean)

If you like allegories, read "The Last Battle" by C.S. Lewis.  It's the final book in the Chronicles of Narnia and gives a good example of how deception and mind control are used to lead people to worship a false Christ.

  1. why don't you post anything about why they believe that this Ahnsahnghong was God in the flesh by using the Bible? and if they are wrong proving so through the Bible as well?

    1. Because he was the one who established Zion. Nobody else on this Earth or neither in the Universe ever can do it only the Most High God.Because God the only one who gives forgiveness of sins and eternal life. And by the way why don't we talk a little bit about the Roman Catholic Church. Why is that that they murdered 50 million Christian brothers and sisters in the age of Napoleon. It is on YouTube. Everyone can see how they tortured and murdered everyone who followed the teachings of Jesus Christ. They are the Evil Once not the WMSCOG OK. DO YOU THINK THAT YOU ARE A MERE MAN CAN HIDE THE TRUTH. THE TRUTH WHAT KIND OF TERRIBLE THINGS YOUR FATHER DID FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS. HOW HE HATES ELOHIM. SINCE HE WAS BORN FROM HEAVENLY MOTHER. BUT DON'T WORRY BECAUSE SHE WILL CRUSH HIS HEAD VERY GOOD. AND YOU WILL BE THERE TO WITNESS THAT. THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF ELOHIM. AMEN

  2. Thanks for commenting. I have posted extensively about the WMSCOG's prophecies used in trying to prove Ahnsahnghong as the second coming of Christ, and also why they are wrong. I suggest you explore my articles listed under "Index" and the summary pages (Summary of Key Verses, Summary of Internal Evidence, and Summary of Mistakes). If there is something particular that you'd like more information about, or that you disagree with, I'd be happy to discuss it.

  4. I'm glad to know wmscog members are reading here, and I pray that you will be able to discern truth from falsehood.

The wmscog is very skilled at removing a verse from its context and giving an application to suit their own purpose. If you actually read through the New Testament, all the verses in order, not a few here and a few there, can you honestly say that it teaches us to insult, ridicule, and yell at people who don't agree with us?

  7. I used to attend WMSCOG in Bogota NJ couple of years ago and I am still affected by their behavior. At that time the church was trying to transfer to ridgewood NJ in which now they reside.I can honestly say that the people involve that church destroyed my spirit. This is my story I was preached as an undergraduate in the university by a women.Back in that time I used to be very thirsty for the word of God and passionate about the bible. The women preached to me about the Sabbath day and how the Catholics are not following the word of God.I was convinced and decided to attend one of their lessons.I went to the lessons and was convinced again and got baptized.I kept attending the church, learning the lessons, learning how to recruit others to attend the church(a fruit for mother they will call it),clean zion, everything that I need to do to have a nice house in heaven they will say.I follow their teachings, prayed, and bought their books.I also becamed very afraid about the end of the world and the outcome of my life and families. One day I started having a panic attack because the church will constantly say the end was so near that it felt it could happen any moment and I just didn't felt ready. As soon as the panic attack started the church leaders, member, and the women that brought me to that church turn their back on me.Now you will wonder why?I started to mentally breakdown and started having a psychosis(in other words not being all there mentally)I really wanted be part of the church and did not wanted to miss Sabbath day cause you know for salvation but I was denied to go to church on Saturday by the WMSCOG because according to them I need some Proffesional help. I took there advice and got helped and got tested nothing was wrong me, my result was being deeply depressed , why because I was not in the church. Then I started to go back to show proof that I am alright because according their words which was"if you get better you can come back"but deep inside my gut I knew they were lying. When I went back I got send home and a phone call by one of the leaders saying "Don't come near any of our members, and to our church again or will get a restrainer order against you!"After I was told that I went to some deep depression that lasted for six months.I really thought God has rejected me, I felt awful my spirit died I walked the earth like a zombie I didn't feel anything. No emotions, nothing I wanted to laugh I couldn't, I want to get mad I couldn't, I wanted to cry I couldn't. Also you must understand since I was going through this psychosis I called the members because I was scared and needed some support.Obviously that did not happened. I was treated like I was a freak,a dangerous person, and just unfit for their church. How can this church want to save everyone but when they have challenge and some one gets sick they just throw them to the pit?A person they used to call brother or sister?A person they use to say I love you? I was also told once you leave the church you will have a terrible life? Like you will have the worst luck ever? That's why I thought too,but unfortunately, my life did not got worst it got better I got up one day and said to myself"These people are not going to point the finger in my situation as a to see what happens when you don't follow"I ended transferring to a better university got B.A. in Psychology did very well in that field. It's Ironic how life is,I end up going through mental breakdown and got educated in the mental health field.I must say at the time I was preached I was weak minded and very Gullable and susceptible to these things. As a educated professional many young people especially those in college are very gullabble and weak minded. However,my mistake was not being very educated in the teachings of the bible If I was preached being very educated in the teachings of the bible I believe that could of change things.

  9. Thank you for sharing, Anonymous. Have you read my post "Leaving the World Mission Society Church of God"? (http://encountering-ahnsahnghong.blogspot.com/2011/07/leaving-world-mission-society-church-of.html)
Sounds like you are in the fifth category of those who leave--you were pushed out.

Even though it must have been a hard experience to go through, I hope you will feel blessed that God rescued you even if at the time you did not know that you needed rescuing.

It also sounds like you now disagree with the WMSCOG. I would like to know what it was that made you realize they were wrong, if you don't mind sharing a little more.

I pray that you will heal and find your faith in God once again (the one, true God). Email me anytime if you'd like to talk more.
    May the Lord bless you.

  10. My girlfriend is a member of the World Mission Society Church Of G-d. Iam Jewish and attend it a couple of services as I like to keep an open mind about people's faith. After a few "Bible lessons" in which I debunked most of the BS as being wrong, they stopped and attempted to push her away from me because they felt that I would "perscute" her. I asked them to explain "G-d" The Father and "G-d" The Mother. I then explained to them since the rituals were all kept by men that G-d was assumed to have identified with being a fatherly figure but that in Judiasm G-d was neither male or female.

I find nothing wrong with believing in the way one wants to believe but this church is nothing more than a cult. I hope she sees the light soon and gets out.

    2. I think given time she will understand the truth. I find nothing wrong that they keep ways but when you show them proof they are wrong, they get defensive and state that everything in the law was spirtual. That emphatically goes against the beliefs of Judaism which shows that the law was both spirtiual and physical. As far the lady in Korea aka "G-d The Mother", I pointed out that by worshipping her, they are breaking the law on idolatry. And if she was "G-d" she would emphatically agree.. I hope that all understand.

Shabbat Shalom (Sabbath Peace) to all.

    3. Yes, in my experience, they've been very defensive, and even more so when they have no ready answer for a point I've brought up--skilled at avoiding the real question. Peace also to you, friend.

    4. So sorry for you but it is amazing as well. Because you are just fulfilling the scriptures right there. You are the son of Hagar and not the son of Sarah. The different is that one is a slave and the other one is a free women. And the fact can't be changed unfortunately. The same way : My sheep listen to my voice... if you don't hear that' s mean you are not the sheep belong to the true shepherd. Sorry may God have mercy on you and change your destiny.

    2. can you believe that the wms has no study for the mark of the beast! they say that's nothing, come on now everything in the bible is important. It makes me wonder. If you hear the news you have heared about the rfid chip already in the works. This first started when they were implanting dogs with a chip the size of a grain of rice on the back of their neck. The reason was, if the dog got lost and was found it would be scan and they would see the owners name and other information, therefore returning the dog to it's owner. Happy ending! right, wrong! now the word is out they are using a similar tech. on sick ppl, in case of an emergency, you know like the medical tags. From there we will all need one in order to move around and I.D. us. This reminds me of back to the future, and total recall, in the future we will past through security check points that will scan us and our whole life story will pop up on a screen. They will most likely start this on airports so that they can know who is an american citizen and who is not. Anyway there is so much to the mark of the beast and it says in the bible that without the mark on the forehead or hand no one will be able to purchase, so obviously this means something, but why does wms think nothing of it. Hmmmmm, things that make you say Hmmmmm

    6. @ ANONYMOUS JUNE 15, 2012 FURTHERMORE

      God's Love - John 15:13
God's love towards us, His estranged creation, is graphically depicted in the sacrifice He made on our behalf. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13 NIV).

Jesus Christ, is God's unique and eternal Son.1 He is the Alpha and Omega,2 the Great I AM,3 the "Mighty God"4 by whom all things were created5 and in whom all things consist.6 Jesus, who is the head of all things,7 humbled Himself in such a way that the human mind couldn't even bare the thought of it. He came into this sin-cursed world and actively partook in our sufferings. Even as we are flesh and blood, He shared in the same.8 He became a man and dwelt among us.9 He shared in the sufferings we brought upon ourselves through our rejection of His holy precepts.10 And as if that were not enough to convince us of His love and concern for us, Jesus, the immortal God and the Giver of Life, gave up His own life upon the cross in the greatest act of love the world has ever known! In doing so He took our sins away, effectively nailing them to the cross with Himself. Thus, He who knew no sin became sin for us11 and He who gave life to all, tasted death for those condemned to it.12
God's Love - For God so Loved the World
This is God's love! "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him" (John 3:16-17). Jesus Christ loved the world so much that He gave everything for it, from His rights and privileges as the unique eternal Son of God, to His very life! If you want to see the love of God, look to the cross. "This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins" (1 John 4:9-10). "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
      God's Love - It's For You!
God's love has been made known to us and now He stands at the door and knocks.13 It's up to every individual to either pursue a personal relationship with God or else reject Him outright. The only barrier between us and God's love is our own freewill and Jesus Christ is the door.14 "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'" (John 14:6). Salvation is a free gift bought and paid for by the blood of Christ. There is no other way. "…Do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" (Galatians 2:21). You can't earn God's forgiveness through good works. How will doing the good works that you should have done all your life make up for the countless times you've failed? God's no fool. You can "use an abundance of soap, the stain of your guilt is still before Me…" (Jeremiah 2:22).

    7. @ANONYMOUS JUNE 15 2012, HOPE MY REPLIE ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION, HERES A BONUS AND AFTER U ARE DONE READING, TELL ME, WHY DO YOU BELIEVE IN MOTHER GOD?

A man once fell on his knees before Christ and begged, "If You are willing, You can make me clean." Christ, "filled with compassion" replied, "I am willing; be clean" (Mark 1:40-41). We too can fall on our knees and acknowledge God's only provision for our sins. We too can hear, "I am willing; be clean." Christ willingly took God's righteous indignation upon Himself so that you don't have to; whoever accepts His death upon the cross as payment for their sins will be reconciled to the God whom they've offended. "All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ…God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them…God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:18-19, 21). Will you accept God's love today?

Fear ye not, neither be afraid; have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

      15. Isaiah 45:21 — Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time: who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me.

    9. 19. Zechariah 14:9 — And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

      20. Mark 12:29-34 —And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

  13. They've just about got my girlfriend, I've gone back and forth with her about the inconsistencies in their story. Going bible verse for bible verse, she always goes back and they have answers for everything. I wish I'd known sooner what was going on

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriend. They may seem like they have answers to everything, but they don't always make sense, and there are some inconsistencies that they have no good answer for. I hope your girlfriend will see this clearly soon.

i'm really very happy to have found this site.. for quite some time now, i'm being "hunted" down by the members of this church.. "hunted" because almost every time my baby and i are at the bus station or simply playing together at the apartment complex' park, members would approach me, invite themselves to our house for a coffee and i would just say yes but wouldn't give my apartment building and room number. some are very insistent even though i pretend not to understand what they say. when they're being so pushy, i just look at them blankly and move away...

i already had 2 bad experiences with them while i was pregnant.. very very very pregnant.. in the first one, two Korean women insistently knocked on our door. being pregnant, i was sleeping and moved slowly to open the door. when they said they were from a "church" i told them i wasn't interested and that i am a Catholic. as if i had to show them a proof, they asked me where i attend mass. i said there's a Catholic church nearby that offers English mass for the Filipino community in the area.

one woman said it's okay and asked if could they have a drink coz they're very thirsty and tired. i wasn't supposed to do it. they should have brought their own bottles of water or just buy drinks from the mart at the 1st floor but being all Christian, i told them to wait a while by the door. but the soonest i turned my back, they immediately entered our house, plugged in their notebook and opened it and asked for the languages i know. it all happened so quickly that i wasnt' able to react. pregnancy brain was also acting that's why i wasn't able to think about calling my husbnd or the police...

so i endured about 15 to 25 minutes watching dramatic videos of their church. how it came about by stating verses after verses from the bible..

the problem is, these women or people assume that foreigners they talk to know nothing about their own faith. that foreigners here need help, especially those from the south east asian countries (excuse me but it's true)...

then, after telling them that i understood what their church was all about, they got busy with their phones calling "men" who were nearby. when i asked why? they said they were going to prepare to baptize me... and i said hhhuuuwwwaaattt????

i rejected them strongly. but they insisted that i already know the truth and that i was already 'enlightened" by the videos and the bible verses they showed me. i laughed at them but couldn't say the "crazy" word in Korean coz they were older. they called a Filipina member to convince me to join. and to my disappointment, she said "it's nice here. they give us clothes, food, and sometimes money." sadly, the rewards they offer for being a member are actually "worldly.." i told the Filipina to tell her companions this:

"I have my own religion and i am happy with it. I experienced God works in me and for me and i believe that's what religion is all about. In the future, should i find emptiness and see that their church is the true one, i would approach them myself. but i believe that there's one God in three DIVINE persons. this belief wasnt' forced on me. it was taught by my parents who went through tough times but the more that they clung to God, and didn't seek other gods to satisfy their momentary suffering. having just watched a video and shown highlighted bible verses aren't justifiable reasons to baptize a person."

and the Filipina answered "oh well, it's another waste of time then.." to my shock...

then i told them to go because i had to rest. when they told me that i should reconsider because their companions were already nearby, i told them that i didn't say anything about wanting to be baptized. when they again opened their bible to show me something, i threatened to call my husband or the police. and they left...

two weeks later, the same thing happened at a subway station...

at the subway station, i already saw two women eyeing me from afar. i tried to avoid them but seeing my very vulnerable condition, they followed me and blocked my way. i said i already knew about hteir church and i'm not interested.

my mistake.. i said "knew" and so, they insisted i get baptized. they called the man standing nearby and told him i should be baptized.. i hyperventilated.. i was so worried about my baby that i tried to move away but one woman blocked my way.. when i moved to my right, the other woman blocked my way too. when i tried moving backwards, the other woman held my upper arm.

and i said my husband and i were just visiting my mother in law. it was stuffy inside the house so i went out for a walk. so they should let me be so i could continue my supposedly "wonderful" walk along the plaza surrounded by trees in their autumn foliage.. but the woman didn't release my arm. i felt my blood pressure go up coz i became a bit dizzy and felt hot.. i held on to my lower belly and shouted " i said i don't like.. i don't like.. i don't like. understand? i'm a foreigner but i know my religion and i'm not stupid."

the woman felt me go out of balance. she tried to help me but i pushed her away. it felt like the devil trying to pull me to the pit of hell.. i was so angry..

when i was finally ALLOWED to move away, the man at the barbeque stand gave me two thumbs up and i felt good..

that's why i'm very thankful for this site.. in the future, i can confidently confront them too if they'd insist on coming in here especially when my husband is not home... thank you very much. keep up the good works..

i am always open to dialogues when it comes to religion. in the Philippines, i even attend other churches when being invited. when i first came here, i even tried going to my mother in law's presbyterian church. however, on my 4th visit, a member told me they'd give me a gift on my 6th visit. and so, i didn't go to my supposed 5th visit. to my mother in law's frustration and anger...

i believe that inspite of the differences how we call God and praise Him, we are actually praying to Only One the same God.. but there are lots of false teachings going around, false prophets and i believe that a firm and broad understanding of our current faith will keep us to it. i don't necessarily memorize verse upon verse of the bible but i believe i've read it cover to cover way back in high school because of bible quizzes and never for once did i encounter a reference about a Mother God.. way back in our university religion though, my professor said God could be a female too but we just refer to her as a him but it never bothered God.. when Jesus came, he also never even spoke about God being his mother or a female instead or never even spoke about there being a Mother God too.. He was after all sent by the Father... As for the New Jerusalem referred to as "her".. that's the church for me and if it was literally referring to Jerusalem, don't we call a place/country/ship and even typhoon with female names or refer to them as females..

  18. I am a member of this church with many questions of my own but I would just like to say that no member I know has ever forced themselves into someone's home or grabbed them to force baptism. The members I know really, fervently want to follow God correctly and want others to do the same so they may go to heaven. There may be inconsistencies and misunderstandings but they are not bad people they simply want truth.

    1. I can agree with you that so many members really want to follow God. If they are overly eager to preach or baptize, it's most likely from a sincere desire to 'save' others. And when they treat 'unbelievers' badly, it's most likely because they really believe that the 'unbelievers' are trying to take them away from God, and they do sincerely want to follow God. The problem is that what they have been taught is wrong, and they can't (or won't) see it.

Thanks for writing. I hope that you resolve your questions, and that you keep in touch.

  19. I have read many comments. Do they teach or use the name Jesus Christ? Do they believe he is the Son of God who died for our sins? Is this Ashacong or whatever a name for something else? And is this Korean based congregation? Where in the Bible does it teach about this Mother. Can someone who attended please answer my questions. Definitely sounds like a cult to me.
